Requesting a License
- Check NVivo's system requirements here before downloading the software.
- If you are currently faculty, staff, or a student at the University of Toronto, fill out the license request form.
Setting Up myLumivero Portal Account - New Users
Note: If you are a new user, but you already have a myLumivero portal account, skip this section and start at the Downloading section.
- If you don't already have a myLumivero account, you will need to create one first in order to download the software. Go to the myLumivero Portal.

Once you are in the myLumivero Portal, click on "Sign up now".
3. Fill in your details. Click "Send Verification Code", and enter the code that is automatically sent to the inputted email address.
4. Once the code has been entered and verified, click "Create Account".
5. Fill in the remaining details. Click "Complete Sign Up."
Downloading and Installing NVivo 14 or 15 - New Users
Note: You can use either version, as NVivo 14 and 15 are nearly identical; however, NVivo 15 has released additional AI assistant features. Feel free to reach out using our contact form to learn more about how to access these features. The license key you received in your email will work with both NVivo 14 and NVivo 15.

Log into myLumivero Portal using your account (your existing one or the one you just created). After logging in, under Your Products select NVivo > Launch.

Select the Other Versions option.

In the NVivo window, select NVivo 15 Windows to download the NVivo 15 installer for Windows (OR to download NVivo 14 or an older version see the next 2 steps).
- To download NVivo 14 or an older version of NVivo, select the Older Versions option.
5. Select Windows next to NVivo 14 to download the NVivo 14 installer for Windows.
Continue these steps to finish setting up both NVivo 14 or NVivo 15
- Locate the NVivo installer in your Recent Downloads, and open it.
- Select your preferred language for the installation process, and click OK.
- Go through the instructions, and click "Next".
- Read through the License Agreement, select "I accept the terms in the license agreement", and click Next.
- Change the Destination folder (if you want to), select Create a desktop shortcut (if you want to), and click "Next".
- Choose to add on the Supplementary Add-ons (i.e., NCapture for Chrome) if you want to, and click "Next".
- Review your Installation Settings, and click "Install".
- Once the installation is completed, Select "Launch NVivo", and click "Finish".
NVivo is now installed! Continue with the next steps to activate your license.
License Key Activation for NVivo 14 or 15 - New Users
- Once you launch the application, click on "or provide enterprise key to activate".
- Copy and paste the License Key received in your email into the license key's text box. Read through and Agree to the user acknowledgement of license terms, click Next.
- Fill in the required information, and click Activate to finish activating your license.
4. Finish setting up your User Profile by filling in your name and initials, and click OK. Filling in your initials is especially important in team projects, as this information is used to identify your work.
That's it! NVivo should now be running on your computer.
License Key Activation for Existing NVivo 14 or 15 Users Who Only Want to Renew Their License
- To replace or update your NVivo license key, navigate to the start screen for NVivo, and click "FILE" at the top.

Go to Product Info > Manage License >Replace License
- You can replace your license key by copying and pasting the new license key in, and clicking OK.
Enabling the AI Assistant for NVivo 15
If you would like to use the AI Assistant in NVivo 15, first follow the instructions in the Enabling AI Assistant tutorial.
