This Map and Data Library workshop provides a quick start to get you up and running using Esri's ArcGIS Online platform to create and share spatially aware, web-based digital narratives.

First, you'll gain familiarity with the web mapping functionality of ArcGIS Online by creating an interactive web map using open data. Then we'll take a look at how this web map can be combined with other multimedia elements to create a visually compelling, informative StoryMap. In this way, you'll learn how to effectively share your research using geographic data and digital storytelling.

By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:

  • Create and customize web maps using ArcGIS Online
  • Choose and configure a StoryMap template that suits your narrative
  • Add text, images, videos, and other media to your StoryMap
  • Share and publish your StoryMap online
  • Use spatial data to support your narrative and create visual impact
  • Apply storytelling principles and techniques to craft a coherent, engaging story

Introductory level; no previous experience with coding, statistical analysis, or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) is required.
