- What: Building upon the Introduction to Using MAXQDA for Qualitative Data Analysis: Part 1 and Part 2 workshops, learn about using AI in qualitative research and some of MAXQDA’s AI tools.
- Why: Exploring emerging AI usage in qualitative research—including where AI can positively assist in qualitative research, along with considerations of ethical issues and risks—will help inform your decisions on the intelligent and critical application of AI in future qualitative research.
- Software: This workshop is NOT hands-on, just a demonstration, so no software is required to attend. However, if you want to explore it later on your own, you can obtain a free, 14-day trial for MAXQDA, use it in the Robarts Library 4th floor computer lab (note though that the AI features are currently disabled in the computer lab), or purchase a copy for yourself. - Who: This workshop is designed for those new to MAXQDA’s AI tools and more generally about the topic of AI in qualitative research. There is an assumption of basic knowledge of using MAXQDA. This prior knowledge can be obtained by first taking the Introduction to Using MAXQDA for Qualitative Data Analysis: Part 1 and Part 2 workshops. (Although if you have knowledge of a similar tool, such as NVivo, that will be enough to make sense of the features demonstrated.) Skills gained in this workshop can help participants working with qualitative data from any discipline: Humanities, Social Sciences, or Sciences. There are no prerequisites or assumptions of knowledge of statistics or programming.
- When: Thursday, February 26, 2026, 2-3pm
- Where: Online via Zoom link (provided upon registration)
- How: This is a 1-hour online workshop, consisting of a lecture and then a demonstration of the tools. There are no breaks.
