Canada

Historical Statistics of Canada

The second edition of Historical Statistics of Canada was jointly produced by the Social Science Federation of Canada and Statistics Canada in 1983. This volume contains about 1,088 statistical tables on the social, economic and institutional conditions of Canada from the start of the Confederation in 1867 to the mid-1970s. The tables are arranged in sections with an introduction explaining the content of each section, the principal sources of data for each table, and general explanatory notes regarding the statistics.

Tourism in Canada

Destination Canada (formerly the Canadian Tourism Commission) markets Canada internationally. Destination Canada is a Crown corporation wholly owned by the Government of Canada. The Intelligence section of their website provides national tourism indicators and other reports on tourism. PDF format.

Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) competition results archive

This include information and data on research grants, major collaborative research initiatives, strategic grants, aid to occassional research conferences and congresses in Canada, aid to small universities, general research grants, SSHRCC institutional grants, doctoral fellowships, postdoctoral fellowships, aid to research and transfer journals, aid to occassional scholarly conferences, aid and attendance grants to scholarly associations, travel grants for international representation. Most tables are 1995/96 through latest. Excel format.

POLLARA public opinion polls

POLLARA Canada (formerly Insight Canada) has generously donated their public opinion polls to the Carleton University Library Data Services, from 1992 to 2002. This includes Perspectives Canada, as well as Ontario Perspectives. A number of special interest polls were also conducted by POLLARA and these are included in Data Services's collection.
