UK Data Service

The UK Data Service is a comprehensive resource funded by the ESRC to support researchers, teachers and policymakers who depend on high-quality social and economic data. The UK Data Service's Discover platform provides a single point of access to a wide range of secondary data including large-scale government surveys, international macrodata, business microdata, qualitative studies and census data from 1971 to 2011. The United Kingdom Data Archive is the lead organization of the UK Data Service and uses the Discover platform to disseminate its holdings.

Some datasets are open access and can be downloaded without signing in. Restricted datasets require a username and password. Non-UK users must apply for a user name and password through the UK Data Archive in order to access restricted data. There are some datasets that are not available to non-UK users even with an account. For more information about access restrictions see the terms and conditions of access page.
