Are you looking to learn a new technical skill once the term is over? Is reacquainting yourself with Excel, Tableau, PowerBI, Python, or R a holiday goal?

U of T has a subscription to the O'Reilly Online Learning platform, where you can read their ebooks and take online courses. They cover a range of IT and data science-related topics, and also offer some materials on business communication.

To access it:

  1. Go to this U of T page for O'Reilly Online Learning
  2. Under "full text availability", click on "O'Reilly Online Learning: Academic/Public Library Edition"
  3. Sign in with your UTORid

Some especially MDL-adjacent topics available are resources on GIS, data visualization, programming, and data cleaning (such as the Bad Data Handbook, a compilation of tips, case studies, and data horror stories).
