November is going to be a busy month for data visualization! I'm offering a number of introductory workshops on Gephi, Tableau, Infographics, and new for this term, Power BI.

First up we have Gephi. Gephi is a free, open-source, point-and-click tool, used to understand and visualize relationships in your research, such as connections between important figures in history, how characters in literature are related, how social groups interact, or trends in academic citation networks. I'm offering an in-person workshop called Introduction to Visualizing Relationships Using Gephi on Tuesday, November 4, 10am to 12:30pm in Robarts Library 4th floor computer lab.

Next, we have Tableau Public. Tableau Public is a free, popular, point-and-click data visualization tool, that can be used to quickly create interactive bar graphs, line graphs, pie charts, scatter plots, and more. The week of November 10, I'm offering two Tableau workshops (one online and one in-person):

Next, we have Infographics. Infographics are a specific type of data visualization that uses a mix of data, visuals, and text to inform or persuade. I'm offering an online workshop called Introduction to Best Practices for Creating Infographics on Tuesday, November 18, 2-3pm

Finally, I'm excited to announce the launch of a new workshop on Power BI. Power BI is Tableau's main competitor. It is a market-leading, point-and-click data visualization tool from Microsoft, which allows you to create a variety of visuals, similar to Tableau, but also integrates well with other Microsoft tools, such as Excel. The week of November 17, I'm offering two Power BI workshops (one online and one in-person):

November provides you with a lot of opportunities to strengthen your data visualization skills! Hope to see you at a workshop!
