Although the Map & Data Library is physically closed, we are still available remotely and happy to help. We can conduct consultations using online teleconferencing software. COVID-19: Updates on library services and operations

Using MDL Lab Computers via Remote Desktop

The computers in the Map & Data Library computer lab (on the fifth floor of Robarts Library) are now open for use via remote desktop. This means that computers with statistical, GIS, and data visualization software are now accessible from your home.

Software Available

Here is a list of software currently installed on the MDL Computer Lab workstations.

Please note the following changes:

  • SAS is not available over remote desktop
  • SPSS will be available as of August 1, 2020

Access

Please follow the instructions here:

Be sure to follow steps 1 & 2 in the instructions, since you will need to use the University of Toronto VPN to access our computers. Once you have completed steps 1 and 2, click on Reserve a Computer. Enter your UTORid, then Pool. Pick "Map and Data Library Instruction Lab". 

Once you are all done, please remember to click on the Start Menu and Log Out.
