When filling out the ArcGIS license request form, make sure you select to request "ArcGIS Pro". You will receive an email from a Map & Data Library staff member with an ISO file, which you will have to unpack with a file archiver software like 7-zip (available here). This code will be used to activate your student edition of ArcGIS, and it will time out 365 days after installation. Attached to the email you received is a provisioning file for ArcGIS PRO, along with a Word document with installation instructions. Please save the provisioning file to your computer, in a location you will remember. This will be used to authorize the software.
-
Download the “ISO file” attached to the e-mail you received from the Map and Data Library. Make sure to use the user name and password as provided in the instruction file. Please contact mdl@library.utoronto.ca if this is unclear.
-
After you download from this link, you will have to extract the file using a file archiver (such as 7-zip) again:
-
Once this is unzipped, double click on ArcGIS Pro_22_163783.exe.
-
It will ask you where you want to save it. You will need to go back to this folder in the next step, so please remember which location you selected as your destination folder.
-
Now go to the destination folder you selected from the last step. You should see a folder called “ArcGIS Pro 2.2”. Click “ArcGISPro”, then Click “ArcGISPro.msi”. After it finishes installing, ArcGIS Pro will start automatically.
-
If nothing pops up, search in your task bar “ArcGIS Pro”, and click to start the program.
-
Start ArcGIS Pro.
-
ArcGIS Pro will ask you to sign in using ArcGIS Online account information. In this case, click on Enterprise Login, and type "utoronto"
-
Click on ArcGIS Online (University of Toronto).
-
Use your UTORid to log in.
-
You will get a warning sign showing your account does not have an ArcGIS Pro Named User license assigned. Click on "Ok".
-
Change license type to “single use license”, the click ok.
-
This will take a few seconds, and then click Authorize.
-
Select “I have received an authorization file and am now ready to finish the authorization process”, browse to your provisioning file that you just download from the e-mail, (ArcGISPro Advanced single use provisioning file), then click next.
-
Click on “Authorize with Esri now using the Internet", and click next.
-
Fill out your personal information, and click next.
-
Continue to fill out your personal information, and click next.
-
Your code should be there automatically.
-
Select “I have authorization number to authorize one or more extensions", then click next.
-
Wait for few minutes, and after the authorization is complete, click finish.
-
Click ok.
-
Start ArcGIS Pro again, and it should be ready to use.
